Festival at Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple




The 10-day annual festival at Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple, Guruvayur, Thrissur Dt (Kerala) will begin on 08 March 2017. The festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March) every year. The festival starts with Kodiyettu, the ritual hoisting of the temple flag. ‘Anayottam’ (elephant race) will be conducted on the opening of the festival. Many rituals are performed in these 10- days inside the temple complex.

Variety of cultural programs are arranged at Melpathur Auditorium, the public stage outside the temple complex, as part of the festival from 08-17 March 2017.  Some of the select programs (09-15 Mar) are listed.

Astapadi and Nadaswaram will be performed on all days from 06.00 am – 09.00 am.(09-17 Mar)

08 March (Wednesday):

Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple

Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord SreeKrishna. It is one of the famous pilgrimage centres in India. The temple is located at Guruvayur, Thrissur Dt of Kerala, India.
